Shrimp, Anyone?

Last night, Hank and I decided to go on a "date". We were sitting at Lonestar in Effingham when Hank asked me "Did you ever try those shrimp I grilled that Travis bought for catfish bait?". Obviously, I lost my drink and laughed my ass off. I love my husband.

Bait/Porn Shop anyone?

Today Hank told me he would like to run his own business. I told him he could be my office manager when I get my NP. Hank then suggested we open a medical/welding business, our slogan may be:
"Bring your wife in for an exam and your trailer in for repairs"
or maybe a Bait/Porn Shop:
"Why no sir, that isn't a crank bait, or is it?"
As you can imagine the ideas and one liners kept going.
So, if you could have any business you wish, what would it be. Hank thinks this may be a good way to offer Ashley and Evan some new career advice, so that they could move back to Jasper County.
We kinda think Ashley is like Chandler, does anyone know what she does? Does she know anything about a WENIS? Maybe she is a transponster?

The weekend is finally here

I have been waiting forever for this weekend. Its the first one I have had off in a while, plus we have lots to do with our friends. Tomorrow I am running in Nick's Race. Who am I kidding, I am attempting to run, but I will probably jog/walk. I went with Holly last night to run the trail and I almost died. It was a reality check for me, reality is that surgery kicked my ass. Before I was running 4 miles easy, now 2 sucks. Sucks as in me SUCKING wind the whole time. I have some work to do.
The silver lining is tomorrow afternoon. We are getting together with our canoe gang for some good old Jasper County fun, 4 wheeler riding. I can't wait to have a few cold Coors Lights and talk to the gals. I have been so busy over the past few weeks, I am out of the loop.
Sunday afternoon the whole family is going to Sarah and Amber's cookout. Emily is so excited to see her pals.
Unfortunately, Monday morning will be here before I know it.

We are back in the game

So, the Holiday World Trip was interesting. Besides the torrential rain falls from 1000-1130, we had a very good time. On our way home I suggested we eat at Chucky Cheese, I must not have had enough suffering over the previous 12 hours. My thinking was the kids would wear out and then sleep the whole way home. In theory, this was a very good plan. Reality was, they were awake and hopped up on the candy they had won for the entire trip home. I got home only to realize I didn't have a washing machine to was the soured clothes we were wearing.
Yes, you read right, 7 days after buying a very expensive washer and dryer, I still didn't have a working washer. I did have 2 boxes of parts from Sears on my dinning room table.
Finally on Tuesday, Hank called me at work and was washing a load of clothes, 11 days after we bought the damn thing.
So, the bottom line is this. If you buy something from Sears, get the Master Protection Agreement. If you can't afford the extra money for the Master Protection Agreement, go to Menard's.

7 days of fury

It all started last week with the new washer that wouldn't work, then the biblical floods came, and the office is super hoppin. So, we are going to end the week from hell with a trip to Holiday World. Hank, Emily, and I are going with Trav, Janice, and the boys. I have been looking forward to it all week, I know Emily and Dalton will have a ball. Of course, there is a chance of RAIN. Will it ever end.

Pictures are to follow.....

My new washer and dryer

Last night Hank told me our dryer quit. We have never had a new washer or dryer, always used. So, with the heaping piles of clothes I have to wash this weekend, we went today to buy our new dryer.
I decided I didn't want a front loader, don't ask why, I just don't. So, I decided on a top loader without the agitator. Whirlpool and Kenmore makes one.
First we went to Menard's, they had the dryer I wanted, only in black. Now, I may be old fashioned, but I like good old white appliances. Oh, I think the red ones are really cool, but I don't know if I think they are cool long term, and with washer and dryer combos running around $2,000, I need long term.
Next we went to Sears, they had a white Kenmore Elite set I liked, so we bought it. We brought it home and hooked it up. The flippin washer doesn't work. Luckily, I bought the extended warranty plan, unfortunately it doesn't start until tomorrow.

New blog on the block

Sarah Sez has another offspring. The Riedle Family have a new blog, Betsy e-mailed how much she enjoys reading Sarah's daily, so she has jumped on board . I am glad, I miss Betsy and Olivia. Marshall is close, yet so far away. Check out Betsy's blog and see how much Olivia looks like her mommy.

My new job

For the past 8 years I have been driving back and forth to Terre Haute for work. I am grateful for Terre Haute, it has given me a good job since I became a nurse. But, as with everything, times change. Actually, gas prices change. When I started I could gas up in Terre Haute for $0.99/gallon. Those days are long gone. That, and those crazy Hoosiers decided to go to daylight savings time year around.

So, I jumped at the chance to work in Newton at a Dr's. office. Dr. Saliba is a wonderful physician who has recently opened his own office in Newton. I am the office nurse. Today was my first day.

Emily woke me up before my alarm was set to ring. I left my house at 7:45, grabbed a Blackberry Jasmine Green Tea at Solid Grounds (my favorite place in town), and was at work by 7:55. AMAZING:) This is in contrast to waking up at 4:00 to leave the house by 5:00 to get to work by 7:00 (time change). Then working 12-16-20 hours days and driving the home half asleep. Julie French has done this for years, she is a superwoman, I don't hold a candle to her.

So, today was a good day. I took care of people I have known my whole life and gave out several hugs. It will take a few days to feel comfortable in my surroundings, I have never worked in an office before, but I can tell I am going to like the work. I know there are downfalls, I realize I am going to find them along the way. But, being able to run home and eat lunch with my kids, going to the bank any day I need to, and knowing my day is over at 5:00 every evening is a great feeling.

VBS

Emily started Vacation Bible School tonight at Jack Kinkade's church. Now, I pride myself on being a cool mom. A mom who wouldn't stress about how her child was being treated by other kids or if her child was the odd ball of the class, but when it comes down to it, I am not as cool as I think I am.

Emily and Hayden stay at home everyday with my grandmother (who is just the greatest lady ever). So, when I dropped Emily off tonight at Jack's church and she didn't even look back, I was slightly heart broken. No tears, no goodbye, no nothing. I on the other hand stood around like an idiot for a few minutes to make sure no one teased her for wearing a dress (her idea). For 2 hours Hayden and I walked around lost outside, its weird not having them both home. Promptly at 8:00, I was waiting outside of the church for Emily. She told me she prayed and sang and had snacks and then the best part of the story happened.

Out of the blue, Emily says "Mama" (she calls me Mama) "Mama, Jack said he would protect me." This is one of those moments I will always remember. When Jack is running onto the football field, and his name is announced, I will not look at him as he is then. I will remember him as he is today, with his yellow crocks, telling Emily he will protect her. Thanks Jack, Emily's mom needed to know that.

Okay, before my boob surgery I had Amber Lindemann take a few pre-shots (sorry they aren't posted on her site, so don't even look). Since Hank and I aren't really into home videos and photo sessions, I had no real idea how I looked. It was shocking how small I really was.

Any woman who has had a couple kids, gained and lost weight, or just reached the time where gravity is no longer your friend should come and see my before and after shots. I didn't think it would be such a significant change, but it is. Contrary to rumor, I am not porn star size, not by any means. If you didn't know me well before, you may not even be able to tell. But, when I take off my clothes to get in the shower, and I walk by the mirror, I can tell. I again have a woman's shape. I love my new boobs. I would go through the last 9 days over and over again, to get the results I see today.
